WWE SummerSlam is going down tonight (Sat., Aug. 5, 2023) from Ford Field in Detroit, Michigan starting at 8 pm ET, live on Peacock (in the U.S.) and WWE Network (everywhere else).

It’s against my uniform to be a civil judge. All the songs are history now `bout rock stars and their grudge. Let us cast our minds back to thirty years or more. You took up all the vandals, but me? I’m just here to liveblog this pro wrestling show for you, folks.

The show opens with a Detroit-themed video package starring Kid Rock in the year of our dark lady Satan 2023.

Yeah I don’t know what we did to deserve this either.

Paul cocky, disrespecting Ricochet, he eats a slap for his trouble, handspring headscissors sets up a dropkick and Logan goes to the floor! Covering up, Rick fakes out into a backflip and waits for him to return to the ring. Back inside, shot off, leapfrog, roll under, sunset flip, Ricochet rolls through, Paul ducks a kick and blasts him with a back elbow!

Grinding Ricochet down with a reverse chinlock, to the apron, clubbing blows to the One and Only’s back sets up a hangman’s neckbreaker! Back inside, punches in the ropes, Logan dancing, light on his feet before laying more body blows in! Running powerslam... RICOCHET KICKS OUT!

Off the ropes, Logan lands a big boot, a leg drop out of the splits for two and he flexes after! Ricochet off the ropes, theatrics, People’s Moonsault for two! Chops and kicks, whip reversed, big back body drop from Paul! Fighting on the apron, Spanish Fly, both men land on their feet, Spanish Fly on the floor!

Ricochet back inside first, Logan trips him and pulls him back out to the floor! BUCKSHOT LARIAT TO THE FLOOR! Paul takes one of his energy drinks from a young fan, cracks it, takes a swig, and then dumps the rest out on Ricochet! Back inside, high crossbody into a standing moonsault... STILL NO!

Trading strikes, Ricochet floats out of the corner and Logan goes hard into the post shoulder-first! Both men up top... AVALANCHE SWINGING NECKBREAKER FROM RICOCHET! Kicks into a handspring back elbow, the One and Only kips up, flying forearm, whip to the corner, shoulder block to the apron!

Springboard elbow into a shooting star press, chest and back kicks, back suplex from Paul, Ricochet lands on his feet, catches a moonsault, reversed into a tornado DDT... RICOCHET KICKS OUT! Float out of a powerbomb, kick sets up Recoil, Ricochet drags him into position and goes up top... KNEES UP ON THE SHOOTING STAR PRESS!

Logan gets a nearfall out of it and follows it up with a Gallon Throw! Kip-up, Paul cuts him down with a springboard frog splash... STILL NO! Logan getting frustrated, he eats a superkick, Ricochet gets him up... BENADRYLLER! California Roll follows, springboard moonsault... NOT ENOUGH!

Dragging Paul over, Logan grabs his leg to stop him climbing but Ricochet stomps him motionless! Up top... NOBODY HOME ON THE 630 SENTON! Somebody slips Logan some brass knucks but referee Eddie Orengo doesn’t see it! Hard right hand from Paul...

Logan Paul wins by pinfall with a loaded punch.

Rhodes rushes in and tries to overwhelm Lesnar but eats a German suplex! Thinking fast, snapping Brock’s head over the top rope, drop down slap, Beautiful Disaster, another one, but Lesnar swats him out of midair on a third! Shoulder blocks in the corner from the Beast, Cody sidesteps and Lesnar eats the post hard!

Rhodes lays him out with a suicide dive, elbows into the barricade but Brock hosses him up and rams him into the post! Back inside, Lesnar ragdolls him across the ring with a wild Karelin lift! Belly-to-belly suplex follows, more suplexes from the Beast with Cody on the back foot!

Throwing Rhodes out to the floor, Brock wants a countout win but Cody won’t stay down! Lesnar tells him it’s only gonna get worse and hits a straight suplex! Brock sends him over the ropes and to the floor again with a lariat, again Cody won’t stay down and this time Lesnar goes and hits an F-5 on the floor!

Referee Chad Patton counting... CODY MAKES IT BACK IN AT NINE! Rhodes defiant, Lesnar full of anger and frustration, Cody charges in with right hands but eats another German suplex! Rhodes to the floor for a breather, Brock follows after him... F-5 INTO THE ANNOUNCE DESK!

Commentary begging him to stay down now but Cody beats the count! Rhodes with desperate right hands from his knees, Brock with a belly-to-belly suplex and then a German but Cody tears the turnbuckle pad off! To the floor, Rhodes grabs the steel steps but Brock kicks the stairs out of his hands!

Cody fights him off and blasts him with the stairs a few times! Back inside, Beautiful Disaster... CODY CUTTER! DOUBLE JUMP CODY CUTTER! Looking for Cross Rhodes but Brock counters and takes him down into the Kimura Lock! Cody fighting out of it, reaching, crawling... HE GETS THE ROPES AND FORCES THE BREAK!

Brock gets him up, Cody slips out and rams him into the exposed turnbuckle! CODY PUTS BROCK IN A KIMURA LOCK OF HIS OWN! Lesnar fading but he manages to counter with a slam! Brock gets him up, Rhodes counters into Cross Rhodes! A second! A third! IT’S OVER!

Cody Rhodes wins by pinfall with Cross Rhodes.

Post-match, Brock takes his gloves off and approaches Cody. They go forehead to forehead and shake hands and Lesnar pulls him in for an embrace! Brock raises his hand a few times and shakes his hand again.

We get some hype for WrestleMania next year in Philadelphia.

A Becky Lynch hype reel follows.

Montel Vontavious Porter interrrupts at the bell and says there’s no way the match can start before the man that’s going to win it is in it, and introduces Omos.

Chaotic brawling to start as always, Omos dumps Apollo Crews immediately, JD McDonagh follows, Rick Boogs attacks and the Nigerian Giant eliminates him, too! Brawling Brutes on the big man, trying to eliminate him together, triplicate Beats of the Bodhran but Omos blasts Sheamus with a lariat!

Otis Dozovic powerbombs Matt Riddle, Imperium dump Dozer out of the ring and Chad Gable goes to town on them and dumps Giovanni Vinci out of the ring! Tommaso Ciampa eliminates both Viking Raiders and then gets into it with Shinsuke Nakamura, planting him with Willow’s Bell and eliminating him!

Bronson Reed works Ciampa over and eliminates him, Austin Theory takes Ridge Holland out and then Cameron Grimes immediately thereafter! Santos Escobar eliminates Theory, Karrion Kreed attacks him from behind, trading kicks and Escobar goes down! Gable to the apron, skin the cat and eliminate Kaiser!

Pete Dunne and Matt Riddle working Omos over and he eliminates both of them! Chokeslam for Gable, press slam for Grayson Waller, a big boot for LA Knight! Everybody works together and eliminates Omos! Waller ducks under the bottom rope to avoid an ankle lock from Gable, working together with the Miz to eliminate Chad but they celebrate too early and LA comes in and cuts them off!

Knight eliminates Miz, Sheamus eliminates Grayson, they have a shoving match and Reed bowls them both over! AJ Styles sends Kross to the apron and eliminates him with a Pele kick! LA to the apron, Reed blocks German suplexes from Gable and eliminates him! Knight tries and fails to dump Bronson!

Reed puts LA on the apron, Knight struggles... AND ELIMINATES HIM! Sheamus and Styles trading strikes, Irish Curse connects, big tilt-a-whirl slam on Knight! AJ sidesteps the Brogue Kick and lands a lariat, LA back body drops him to the apron, Styles lines him up but Karrion grabs his leg and lets Sheamus eliminate the Phenomenal One!

Knight slams Sheamus, back and forth, fighting on the apron, big superplex from LA! Knight drags him up and eliminates him...

LA Knight wins, last eliminating Sheamus.

We get some hype for the freshly announced commentary shakeup.

Referee Shaun Bennett gives instructions and Rousey offers the glove touch but Baszler denies it.

Struggling into the ropes, knees, back heel trip from Ronda into grounded punches. Shayna takes control, front chancery, Rousey takes her back innto a waistlock takedown, kidney punches, floating over and looking for a cross armbar but Baszler blocks. Kirifuda Clutch attempt, Ronda slips out!

Back to standing, flash roundhouse kick from Shayna sends her to the floor! Back inside, mounted punches, Baszler falls back into the heel hook! Rousey punching at her knee, heel hook of her own applied and they trade punches! Mounted punches from Baszler, Ronda in guard, separation, Rousey with a wicked step-up knee that staggers the Queen of Spades!

Mounted punches from Ronda, sitting on Shayna’s head and punching her kidneys but Baszler hosses her up and dumps her over the ropes! Bennett backs Ronda off while he calls for medics to check on Shayna’s arm! Baszler back at it, trading punches, German suplex, Kirifuda Clutch applied, Rousey gets the ropes to no avail!

Ronda reverses to a flying armbar, Shayna keeps her hands clasped and rolls her around into the ankle lock! Sleeper hold from Rousey, Baszler gets back to her feet and slings her aside, duck the step-up armbar, Kirifuda Clutch is in and she falls back to the mat!

Shayna has to adjust to make up for the injured arm, biting her glove to keep the hold in while Ronda tries to attack the arm...

Shayna Baszler wins by referee stoppage with a modified Kirifuda Clutch.

Attendance is announced at 59,194 for tonight.

Collar and elbow, GUNTHER takes him down with a headlock takeover, back suplex counters and sends the Ring General to the floor! McIntyre out after him, bouncing his head off the barricade and the steps, back inside, out again and this tiem the champion takes it to Drew, slamming him into the steps!

Back inside, McIntyre throwing punches but GUNTHER cuts him down with a single chop! Butterfly suplex for one, short-arm lariats, German suplexes and Drew manages a last-ditch lariat to save himself! Breathing hard, belly-to-belly suplexes, GUNTHER lands another chop, jumping neckbreaker cuts him off and they’re down and out!

McIntyre laying in wait, the Ring General ducks the Claymore and hits the shotgun dropkick! Tenryu Powerbomb blocked, Drew hits a powerbomb of his own and follows it with Future Shock... SO CLOSE! Counting down, but this time GUNTHER rolls out of the ring and McIntyre lands a tope con giro!

Rolling the champion back inside, counting down a third time but this time GUNTHER counters with a dropkick! Tenryu Powerbomb... NOT ENOUGH! Ring General off the top, diving splash... STILL NO! Standing over Drew’s back, paintbrushing his head, piefacing him, McIntyre blocks a chop and they trade chops in the middle of the ring!

Off the ropes, Claymore... GUNTHER FINDS A WAY TO KICK OUT! Drew sets him up top, jockeying for position, trading chops at altitude and the Ring General shoves him off the top and crotches him! Diving splash, huge lariat, powerbomb...

GUNTHER wins by pinfall with the Tenryu Powerbomb, retaining the WWE Intercontinental Championship.

Balor attacks Rollins from behind, Seth turns him around, shoulder blocks, referee Rod Zapata gets them apart long enough to call for the bell!

Frye/Takayama punches with abandon, whip reversed, big back elbow from the champion! Finn with kicks a double leg into a stomp to the midsection, mounted punches and more stomps! Grounding Seth with a hammerlock, kneeling Fujiwara armbar follows. Back to standing, trading punches, side Russian legsweep from Balor and right back to the armbar!

Seth back out, Kawada kicks, Sling Blade reversed into a Falcon Arrow, only a nearfall! Suicide dives from the champion, blasting Finn into the announce desk three times in total! Back inside, hanging Rollins over the ropes, smashing him shoulder-first into the post!

Rollins with a fireman’s carry, dropping Finn face-first into the apron, Balor blasts him with a kick to the shoulder, gets under him... BUCKLE BOMB INTO THE BARRICADE JUST LIKE SETH DID TO HIM SEVEN YEARS AGO! Back inside, Sling Blade, charging in, Seth meets him with a superkick but Balor hits the inverted headlock elbow drop... NOPE!

Cross armbar, in the middle of the ring, Rollins posts up and reverses... DEADLIFT BUCKLE BOMB! Buckle Bomb into the far turnbuckle! Seth up top, frog splash... STILL NO! Rolling elbow, Death Blow, Balor cuts off the charge, double stomp, shotgun dropkick, Finn’s feeling it and he goes up top, Seth cuts him off with the superplex but Balor reverses into a small package!

Enzuigiri gets a Pele kick and both men are down and out! Back on their feet, trading forearms, rolling elbow from Rollins, Balor ducks a follow-up, shotgun dropkick, off the top with Coup de Grace, nobody home! Pedigree connects, Seth falls into the cover... NOT ENOUGH!

Damian Priest comes to ringside with his briefcase, victory roll pin from Seth, Damian blasts him with a right hand, Finn with a Pedigree of his own... SO CLOSE! Rhea Ripley and Dominik Mysterio come down, running interference, Damian has the ref distracted with cash-in talk, Seth hits Blackout... FINN KICKS OUT!

Rollins takes Priest out, Blackout for Dom, he runs right into Sling Blade! Shotgun dropkick, Finn off the top... ROLLINS KICKS OUT OF COUP DE GRACE! Damian slides the briefcase in, distracts the referee, Seth hits Blackout on top of the briefcase...

Seth Rollins wins by pinfall with Blackout, retaining the WWE World Heavyweight Championship.

Alpha Academy do an ad read for Mike’s Hard Lemonade and Miz runs in to remind us his name is Mike and argue about who is harder and ends up dumped into a road case.

Circling, everybody throwing kicks and ducking, victory roll from Asuka, Flair breaks it up and throws her to the apron! Asuka snaps Charlotte’s leg over the ropes, catches a handspring kick from Bianca and does the same! Flair back suplexes Asuka and kips up, getting into it with Belair, blasting her with a knee!

Whip reversed, Flair flip, big boot from the apron but Asuka pulls her out to the floor! Bianca with a plancha to take both women out, Asuka takes her back inside, wrist-clutch kicks, grinding her boot into the side of the EST’s head! Belair catches a kick, right hand, whip across, big elbow, Alarm Clock but Charlotte breaks the pin up!

Asuka hits a German suplex, buzzsaw roundhouse kicks for both women, Flair rolls her up for two! Scoop, float over, German suplex for Charlotte, reversing a vertical suplex on Belair! Double chickenwing from the EST, Flair with a diving crossbody on both women!

Flair takes a moment, referee Jessika Carr attending to her gear, double Natural Selection... NOPE! Big boot on Bianca, spinning toehold, Asuka blasts her with knees... SO CLOSE! All three women trading chops, Asuka pulls Belair’s braid and throws her out of the ring!

Charlotte with elbows, Bianca slingshots in, front kick, hangman’s neckbreaker / DDT combo on both opponents! Mounted punches from the EST on the Queen, backbreaker for Asuka when she runs in, spinebuster on Flair and Bianca’s running hot, handspring moonsault... THE KNEES ARE UP!

Spear from Flair, Asuka takes her down into the Asuka Lock, handspring moonsault lands true this time! Belair up top, Asuka knocks her to the floor, Charlotte knocks her off in turn, fired up, up top... MOONSAULT BUT ASUKA SIDESTEPS AND BLASTS HER WITH A ROUNDHOUSE KICK!

Back inside, diving elbow... BIANCA BREAKS IT UP! Belair ducks a kick, backbreaker rack, Asuka uses the ropes to get away from it and puts Bianca in the Asuka Lock in the ropes! Charlotte knocks her down with a kick, Belair gets under her with the backbreaker rack, land on her feet on the KOD, Bianca turns her inside out with a German suplex!

Asuka slides in for a cover, cross armbar, reverse to a pin, Belair hits a Doctor Bomb but gets caught in the Asuka Lock! A cover leads to the whole deal getting broken up! Flair is up first and decides to stack ‘em up... MOONSAULT ON BOTH WOMEN IS ONLY GOOD FOR TWO!

Thinking double figure four, no deal, back body drop sends Bianca crashing into the steel steps and screaming agony on the floor! Snap backslide from Asuka on Flair, big boot in the corner! Up top, jockeying for position, superplex connects and both women are down and out as medics help Bianca Belair to the back!

Trading forearms with abandon, uraken, rolling solebutt, uraken, Charlotte catches her with the spear... NO! Spinning toehold, into the Figure Eight, Belair runs back in, goes up top... ONE-LEGGED 450 SPLASH BREAKS IT UP BUT CAN’T KEEP FLAIR DOWN!

Bianca back to her feet, sliding forearm on Charlotte, trading wicked forearms, backbreaker rack, Charlotte counters with an arm drag, gets dumped into Asuka, back in, roll through, single leg, spinning toehold, figure four leglock, flipping the bird, bridging back... ASUKA SPITS THE MIST TO BREAK IT UP! BIANCA CATCHES HER! IT’S OVER!

Bianca Belair wins by pinfall with a small package, winning the WWE Women’s Championship.

Post-match, IYO SKY and Bayley run down to ringside with the briefcase for the cash-in! IYO blasts her with the briefcase and hands it to referee Jessika Carr!

SKY off the top...

IYO SKY wins by pinfall with the moonsault, winning the WWE Women’s Championship.

Dakota Kai is here to celebrate with her teammates!

Reigns with a side headlock, shot off, shoulder block, holding court and throwing punches and stomps. Grinding his boot into Uso’s head, back suplex, Jey lands on his feet and fires off a few right hands! Big slicing right, whip reversed, float over the slam, solebutt, uppercut, clothesline to the floor and a suicide dive takes Roman off his feet!

Jey takes in the crowd before going under the ring for plunder! He gets a table out, Paul Heyman pleads for him to remember that Reigns is his family and Roman wakes up and bounces him off the table and returns to the ring! Headbutt in the corner, whip across, enzuigiri catches the champion!

Up and over, Roman catches him and throws him into the turnbuckles! Crowd raining boos down, he tells them to bring it down and they only get louder! Drive-by connects, trading right hands, enzuigiri from Jey! Off the ropes for a dive and Roman blasts him with a kendo stick!

Back in the ring, hammering kendo stick shots, Reigns telling Uso to get up, lifting him up with the stick under his chin but Jey blasts him with right hands! Roman with right hands of his own to cut him off, soaking in the hatred of the crowd, charging in and Jey hits him with the kendo stick!

Wailing shots of his own over and over, to the floor and Uso dives on him! Back in the ring, Superman Punch cuts him off on the dive... SO CLOSE! Calling for the spear, Jey sidesteps, superkick connects, he goes up top... ROMAN KICKS OUT OF THE SPLASH!

Uso pulls a chair out from under the ring and stares a hole in Reigns as he rises to his feet, hammering him with the chair over and over while Heyman begs him to stop! Jey back to the floor, he pulls out a whole stack of chairs and throws them in the ring! Up top, jockeying for position, Roman slips under him... POWERBOMB INTO THE CHAIRS!

Reigns goes out to the floor himself now and gets a table, sliding it into the ring and leaning it in the corner. Fighting on the apron, Jey barely hanging in there and Roman blasts him with a right hand that leaves him inside out on the apron! Uso trying to get under him... SAMOAN DROP OFF THE APRON AND THROUGH THE TABLE!

Uso gets a leather strap out from under the ring and starts whipping the Tribal Chief with it! Roman, bleeding from the elbow, leaves through the crowd and Jey follows after him! Punches, Uso has a refreshing drink of water, fireman’s carry... SOLO SIKOA IS HERE! Raining punches down on Jey, clearing a table... SPINNING SOLO THROUGH THE TABLE!

Sikoa drags his brother back towards the ring as Roman shuffles along behind, half-spent. Back over the barricade and to the ringside area, Solo draws Jey up and throws him in the ring, where Roman tells him to take care of business. Sikoa pulls him up, Spinning Solo in the middle of the ring!

Solo pulls him to his feet again, calling for it, Jey ducks and Sikoa takes the spear! Uso back on his feet in an instant, spear... ROMAN KICKS OUT! Jey with chairshots on both his cousin and brother, ramming Roman repeatedly in the groin! To the floor, Roman and Solo having a chat... JEY SPEARS REIGNS THROUGH THE TIMEKEEPER’S BARRICADE!

Sikoa steps over him to pick Uso up and attack him! Clearing the announce desk, Jey floats over Spinning Solo and gets him on the table with a superkick! Uso off the barricade... SPLASH THROUGH THE ANNOUNCE DESK! Back inside, Jey hits another spear and goes up top... A MASKED MAN PULLS JEY OUT OF THE RING!

IT’S JIMMY USO?! “Fuck you, Jimmy!” chants rain down and he superkicks Jey for good measure! He walks out alone, Roman wakes up and realizes what’s happening and spears Uso through the table leaned in the corner! Cover...

Roman Reigns wins by pinfall with a spear through a table, retaining both the WWE Undisputed Universal Championship and the Tribal Chiefdom.
