Aug 16, 2023Manitowoc unveils the most powerful Potain luffing jib crane in its range
At Bauma, Manitowoc presents the MR 819, its new Potain luffing jib crane for the European and North American markets. With a jib of up to 70 m and a maximum capacity of 64 tonnes, double that of the MR 608 and MR 618 models, the MR 819 is the most powerful crane in the range. It has been designed to lift heavy prefabricated elements and participate in infrastructure projects, such as bridges or nuclear power plant components.
"We developed Potain's MR 819 for our major customers in the rental and high-rise construction sectors," says Thibaut Le Besnerais, vice president of marketing and development for Manitowoc tower cranes. In developing this new crane, we drew heavily on the design of our latest luffing jib model, the MR 309. This enabled us to design a crane with optimized component sizes, for ease of transport and assembly".
With a 3-strand reeving system and a 55 m jib, the MR 819 can be used at a maximum capacity of 64 t up to a 17 m reach, and it is possible to lift up to 10.8 t at the jib tip in this configuration. In 2-strand rigging with a 65 m jib, the crane can lift 42 t to a 21 m reach, and 7.4 t at the tip. Other features include a high-capacity 270 LVF 213 Optima winch, the Ultra View cab for optimized comfort, and the Potain Connect telematics platform, dedicated to maintenance and fleet management.
